Bangsaen, August 28, 2019 – Thailand Super Series championship leaders B-Quik Racing Team will be out in force for the all-important showpiece event for the series, the Bangsaen Grand Prix. The event is held on a 3.754km street circuit, which runs along the beachfront of popular resort town, Bangsaen. After acquisition of a second 2019 Audi R8 LMS, B-Quik Racing Team will field two current-spec Audi GT3 race cars for the first time in the series’ top category.
Leading the charge will be series’ Supercar GT3 championship leaders Henk Kiks and Daniel Bilski. The red hot Am pairing has scored two overall victories and a podium finish in four races so far this season, giving them a 10-point advantage at the top of the leaderboard at the season halfway point. They are joined by the silver-silver duo of 24-year-old Thai driver Sandy Stuvik, third in the standings, who reunites with Audi Sport Asia driver, 23-year-old Martin Rump of Estonia.
Meanwhile, for the season finale of the TCR Asia Series held at the event, TeamWork Motorsport enters an Audi RS 3 LMS for seasoned campaigner and former single seater driver, David Lau.
“The Bangsaen Grand Prix is a highlight of the Asian motorsport calendar,” said Martin Kuehl, Director of Audi Sport customer racing Asia. “The two B-Quik driver pairings, featuring passionate privateers in one car and exciting professional talent in the other, represent what top level customer racing is all about. At the same time, TCR Asia has always had great racing at the event, so we are looking forward to see TeamWork fielding an Audi RS 3 LMS over the weekend.”
Kiks and Bilski regained their championship lead with their second overall victory of the season in round four in Buriram in June, and the pair will be looking to continue their steep upward trajectory in form on the streets of Bangsaen. B-Quik newcomer Rump made an impressive series debut in Buriram. Teaming up with Stuvik for the first time, the pair immediately took a podium finish on their debut together. This weekend, however, the talented young duo will be armed with an even more potent weapon in the form of the team’s second brand new 2019 Audi R8 LMS GT3, having driven an Audi R8 LMS ultra earlier this season.
The Bangsaen Street Circuit is located 90km from Bangkok in the picturesque fishing port of Bangsaen, and the beachside track has become a firm favourite with teams, drivers and fans. The FIA Grade III circuit hosted its first international event in 2017, and the annual Thai racing festival now boasts a packed race programme with Thailand Super Series as the headline race. More than 200,000 fans are expected to fill the grandstands.
